Situm IPS takes advantage of Microsoft Azure to enable the scalability of their finding and tracking solutions

By using Microsoft Azure and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Situm is responding to the exponential growth in the use of its service and the generated traffic data. This integration will guarantee its cloud processing security, as well as the scalability of their applications and workloads.

Situm IPS indoor positioning and location platform is present on an increasing number of buildings, across a wide variety of industries thanks to the tracking and wayfinding/guidance solutions created by thousands of developers around the world.

Over the last year, Situm has increased its presence from 40 to more than 70 countries worldwide. The number of sectors and companies that use its indoor positioning technology continues to grow, and it has already been successfully implemented in thousands of buildings around the world to enhance the experience of users in hospitals, shopping malls, and airports, or to facilitate transit and assistance to people with reduced mobility in different areas with high attendance. It also optimizes work procedures in security and cleaning services and increases productivity through asset management in 4.0 industries.

Among the technical challenges the company had to face due to this spectacular growth, Adrian Canedo, Situm CTO, highlights the need to “Guarantee a robust real-time location service that is adaptable to an increasing and variable demand while maintaining the optimal standards of security and reliability amongst its userbase and workload.

To achieve it, Situm enhanced its platform with the integration of Microsoft Azure and AKS. As Gabe Monroy, Director of Program Management, Azure Application Platform, Microsoft points out, “With the power and versatility of Microsoft Azure and Azure Kubernetes Service, Situm is taking a solid step forward in ensuring secure and massively scalable cloud processing for their IPS Platform data, applications, and workloads.

With this improvement, Situm takes another important step towards consolidating its position as the reference in indoor positioning with maximum precision and minimal infrastructure.
